Andalusite - Chete-Canete, Bregaglia Valley, Sondrio Province, Lombardy, Italy (#:MINS7676)

Very well represented prismatic Xl of Andalusite on quartzite 2,1 cm tall. The Andalusite shows an intense colour and a good luster. Classic old italian Alpine stuff.

Name origin: Named by Jean-Claude Delamétherie in 1798 for the supposed type locality, "Andalusia region", Spain, although he seems to have been not very familiar with spanish geography and the type locality is not in Andalusia.
