An old specimen with a 5 mm long terminated crystal of Eskolaite embedded in Pyrrhotite and Chalcopyrite from the type locality.Eskolaite is a very rare chromium oxide and this specimen is from the Type Locality - Outokumpu, Finland.Ex. Sandro Maggia collection.

Name origin:
Named by Olavi Kouvo and Yrjö Vuorelained in 1958 in honor of Pentti Eelis Eskola (8 January 1883, Honkilahti, Finland – 6 December 1964, Helsinki, Finland), geologist at the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland. He did pioneering work on metamorphic rocks and won several international awards including the 1958 Wollaston medal.
