Name origin: Named after Professor René Van Tassel (May 11th, 1916, Antwerp, Belgium - March 20th, 2013, Mortsel, Belgium), a mineralogist at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences known for his work on the minerals of Belgium, particularly sulfates and phosphates.
