Name origin: Named for the Mineralogical Record, a magazine started in 1970 by John White (whiteite). It is the authoritative English language magazine for mineral collectors, with articles detailing worldwide localitities, fine minerals and collections, and the history of mineral collecting. The named was for the Mineralogical Record being "a worthy magazine in promoting both a better knowledge of Tsumeb minerals and a more beneficial interaction between professional and amateur mineralogists."
