Name origin: A polytype of khinite. The name and separate species status of "parakhinite" have been discredited (IMA-08-C), and the phase is now the polytype khinite-3T (Hawthorne et al., 2009). Named in honor of BaSaw Khin (b. 1931, Burma), a mineralogist with Phelps Dodge Corporation, USA. He found the first specimens of parakhinite.
